Hopper hunter

On desk

‘I’d like a few minutes alone with my client,’ I tell Dr. Corbone, ushering the young lady into a vacant office and shutting the door.

She sits on the chair, her hands fidget nervously in her lap as she looks up at me.

I take a seat on the desk, remembering to cross my legs. After all this time in a woman’s body it’s starting to become natural. My cute but slightly pudgy face and high pitched voice sometimes makes it difficult to be take seriously. But I’m learning. People expect me to look like a woman, but I’m not going to act like one.

My curly hair tickles my arm as I place my hands on my thigh and look at the woman across from me.

‘Who are you?’ she finally says, ‘I don’t have a lawyer and no one knows I’m in here.’

‘I know,’ I reply, ‘but if I told them why I was really here they’d lock me in the asylum with you.’

That gets her attention.

‘First of all, let me say that I believe you, George.’

Her eyes widen, then the tears come spilling out. Her shoulders shake in mighty sobs.

‘Everyone thinks I’m crazy,’ she says, trying to calm down. ‘I’m not a woman!’

‘I know’, I say again, ‘You were a victim of a bodyhopper. And I know how you feel because I’m a victim, too. These bodyhoppers are cruel, they live only to satisfy their own desire and they get off in humiliating others, setting up embarrassing moments then hopping away to watch the carnage. I was an off-duty cop in a strip club, just watching a show when I suddenly found myself the main attraction, on stage in a naked woman’s body.’

‘He stole my body after sex. I woke up and I was all alone in a woman’s body with no money, no ID and no clothes.’ She grips the arms of the chair and leans forward, ‘And when I tried to tell them what happened they put me in here.’

I nod. ‘This isn’t the first time they’ve done something like that. But we think we know a way to stop them. To kill them.’

‘We?’ she asks.

I nod, the long hair tickles my arm. ‘There’s a few of us that have been hopped. We’ve gotten together and we’ve been working on some gadgets that might be able to trap a hopper in a body. But first we have to find him. I need you to tell me everything about the events leading up to the incident.’
