It hadn’t occurred to me until I was in the park that I should have worn a bra. By then my palms were already sweaty and I was on high alert, waiting for someone to call me out. Now my damn nipples were poking through my shirt surely someone would stare at me.
It was my first time trying to pass as a woman in public since the Great Shift had put me in the body of my mom’s friend, Natalie. My online psychiatrist had pushed this as a big moment and it was.
A man glanced my way and my breath caught in my throat. His gaze dipped down to my chest and then back up before nudging his friends.
I had mixed feelings about being ogled. On the one hand, it was validating. I was really a woman. On the other hand, it was objectifying and I felt a bond with my fellow sisters in solidarity against the male gaze in public. Though, in truth, I’d practiced the male gaze on my new body a dozen times. And the male touch.
I was too new at this to be scared or upset, too nervous to approach the group and test my luck. So I strolled on by, hips wiggling at each step. This first time was just about getting out there. Later, I would interact and gradually create the new persona I wanted to be for the rest of my life.<\/p>\n\n\n
