What a difference a year makes. Last year it would have been my boyfriend’s body standing there prepping his fancy cocktails for a party with our friends. Now it was my body that was so steady with the knife.
Hell, six months ago he would have still been wearing sweatpants and a hoodie, trying to hide his new body from the world. Now he’s, well, cute. In my adorable little sundress with a matching hairband.
And here I am in his body with a raging hard-on.
We didn’t know why we’d swapped bodies and so we didn’t know where to start on swapping back. We went through anger, denial, despair, and had come out the other side, stronger as a couple, leaning on each other, helping each other out with our new bodies.
I had to deal with this new testosterone and strength, and it seemed I would pop an erection at the drop of a hat. He had to deal with mood swings and periods. We both had to deal with society’s new expectations of our bodies.
Things were better now, and as I watch him chopping fruit I know there’s some time before our friends arrive.
