Alongside Vireo, Jack searches for clues to the real General&#8217;s whereabouts. As they hunt, Jack finds himself succumbing to the General&#8217;s hidden attraction to Vireo, eventually giving in to his forbidden desire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When they do find the General, there&#8217;s a price for her release: Jack&#8217;s real body. Will he give up everything to save the world?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Jack returned to the living room, Vireo was sitting in the dining alcove tapping through commands on his forearm console. Jack had donned the outfit Milo had synthesized and left for him. It was a simple dress in white and gold at a nod to the General\u2019s formal uniform. It clung to his figure with a low cut neck that showed off the top of his mature cleavage. The soft fabric clung to his hips and accentuated his figure, falling down to below his knees. It left his arms bare, the solid musculature on full display. Wearing it made Jack feel both feminine and powerful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vireo glanced up at Jack as he entered. His eyes lingered on Jack\u2019s form for just a beat too long before he dropped his gaze and resumed tapping at his screen. In that brief moment, Jack caught the longing and recognized an answering echo in his own body. Vireo spoke without looking up at Jack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMilo and Taron are going to take you in and keep you safe until we can find the General\u2019s body.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAny idea where she is?\u201d Jack asked, slipping onto the bench across from Vireo, who kept his eyes firmly focused on his forearm screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHer escape pod crashed through the bubble and in the chaos it hasn\u2019t been found yet. There\u2019s speculation that it may have landed in the Depths.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Depths. Abandoned except for the criminal gang known as the Outfit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWait,\u201d Jack said, putting his hand on Vireo\u2019s. \u201cIf the Outfit gets to them first and figures out who they are, they\u2019ll sell them to Darren.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vireo\u2019s solid fingers stopped their typing as Jack touched him. Vireo finally looked up at him. Why were his eyes so enchanting? Why was his touch so powerful? Chelanda\u2019s feelings intruding. Who knew she had such thoughts for this man?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s why I\u2019ve got to find them first,\u201d Vireo said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cVireo. Henry. Let me help you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s too dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHey,\u201d Jack said. \u201cIt\u2019s not just the General, you know. I want to get my body back also. I have these\u2026feelings. Thoughts. Whatever. I can\u2019t explain but it\u2019s like some part of the General is still in her mind. It\u2019s impossible to explain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To Jack\u2019s surprise, Henry nodded. \u201cI understand. I was put into the body of another soldier. A woman. For a mission.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jack curled his fingers around Henry\u2019s, gently stroking. \u201cThen you know how unnerving it is to have feelings that may or may not be yours.\u201d A lock of grey hair spilled down across Jack\u2019s face and he angrily pushed it back. Chelanda\u2019s bun had long ago come half undone and he looked a mess. \u201cAnd hair that doesn\u2019t stay out of the way,\u201d he added, forcing a laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou have to work with it, not against it. Like this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry carefully slid the clips out of Jack\u2019s hair. It spilled down to his shoulders and Henry carefully swept it back behind Jack\u2019s ears. His fingers worked quickly and gently, smoothing out the tangles. The heat of Henry\u2019s gaze sent a burning blush up Jack\u2019s cheeks and he averted his eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry withdrew his hands, returning to his soldierly distance. \u201cThat\u2019s better.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThank you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere will be some adjustments. Milo and Taron can help you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>I<\/em> can help <em>you<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou can help me by staying safe. This isn\u2019t up for discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry stood and stalked to the door, Jack following behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou\u2019ll come back, right?\u201d Jack asked, trying to keep the need out of his voice. \u201cEvery soldier needs a base.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Henry turned to him. \u201cI\u2019ll come back.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a moment as they stared at each other that Jack wanted to kiss him. Then Henry left and the door slid shut behind him. Milo ushered Jack gently into a seat on the couch. The warm gelled fabric molded to Jack\u2019s soft new form. Milo and Taron sat on either side of him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe\u2019ve been through this,\u201d Milo said. \u201cIt\u2019s disorienting at first. Your physical form is completely different. Your body\u2019s residual attraction never really goes away.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYeah,\u201d Taron interjected. \u201c Like, sometimes this body gets hungry for a\u2026well\u2026it used to belong to a prostitute and I guess she liked her job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cYou can fight your body\u2019s desires or you can go with them. That\u2019s why we have our special toys,\u201d Milo grinned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI don\u2019t need to know about that,\u201d Jack said, rubbing his eyes, feeling Chelanda\u2019s strange, soft contours beneath his fingers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEveryone else online does,\u201d Taron said gleefully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnyway,\u201d Milo said, with a stern glance at Taron. \u201cI\u2019m just saying I get it.
